Florence + the Machine | Everybody Scream Tour | May 5, 2026

I do not regularly go to concerts, though there have been tours I have wanted to go to over the years and kicked myself for missing. Florence + the Machine’s Dance Fever tour in 2022 was one of those I missed and wished I had attended and so when Everybody Scream came out in October 2025 and she announced the associated tour, I knew I could not miss seeing her live this time.

I went alone, which was perfect for me. I told my friend Meghan after the fact and she said she would have gone with me and she had seen her in concert 15 year ago, probably during the Lungs or Ceremmonials tour, and that the concert then had been in a much smaller venue. A smaller venue would have been the perfect way to see Florence sing live! The Toyota Center ended up being fine and my seat gave me a great view of the stage.

I arrived early so I could get merch beforehand and walk around.
I think it was sometime in the fall or early winter of 2010 when I first heard the Lungs album. I can’t recall where, maybe someone shared it on Facebook or perhaps there was a free song download from those little cards that Starbucks used to give away for iTunes. Alas, I ended up purchasing the album and put it on my small mp3 players I had at the time (well, still have) and listened to that album alongside Rilo Kiley albums in the evenings when we were thru-hiking the Florida Trail.
Ceremonials came out in 2011 and I recall listened to that heavily in 2011 and 2012 when were were living in our small rental house here in the Houston area after we’d moved down here to start working post thru-hikes. How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful came out in May 2015 and I know I missed its debut because I was in the throes of babyhood with Forest. Amazon says I caught up to the news of the new album in September 2015! And of course, I’ve been attuned to new albums ever since.
The thing about Florence is she’s a songwriter with lyrics that will stab you in the heart. And I find new nuggets all the time that I missed the first time around or on songs that I thought were meh at first but fell for later.

CMAT opened for F + M and I had never heard her music before. CMAT is an Irish musician whose initials stand for Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson and she’s fantastic! I’m now a fan!

My seat and view. I chose an aisle seat, which I really liked because it gave me more room to stand and move. I was a bit perturbed how many people stayed seating in my section. I stood and sang without guilt! I tried to keep my phone up for most of the concert but did take some videos snippets a few times.

The only full video I took, Cosmic Love

And the final set list for the night. My only disappointment was she did not have Kraken or You Can Have It All on the setlist for the night. Kraken had appeared in some concerts right before this but she must have switched it around for us.
The Everybody Scream live album is out later this week and it was most certainly be on replay for the next few weeks in my headphones!
