I noticed buds on the tree on Monday but really thought it wouldn’t start blooming until this weekend at the earliest, but I was proven wrong.

There are redbud blooms peeking out down here. Amazing.
I was going to email you, but here you are. If you have time, take a look at my latest observation I posted at iNaturalist. I just don’t have a clue, partly because I’m no good at identifying baby plants. Since beach tea and the morning glories are coming on, I know it isn’t them. The closest I could come is Tidestromia lanuginosa, but I’m not sure about that. We have so many species that also appear in Florida, I was sure you’d know!

Me too! I’m noticing all sorts of things waking up. Fingers-crossed for a relatively mild February and even March. Ugh, Texas weather and climate change…

It certainly feels Springlike. I can feel it in the way that people are acting, in their relation to plants and gardens. But of course, Winter may make a comeback. I saw a friend post a February projection that shows REALLY cold weather again. Ouch!
But on the bright side I remember reading Thich Nhat Hanh about Plum Blossoms opening at his Hermitage in France. Then the cold weather came. And the blossoms went! And then they came back again! And he wondered if those were the same blossoms or entirely different blossoms? Funny WOrld ?

Ooh, I love this story about Thich Nhat Hanh! I’ll have to think about that a bit more because it really resonates.
