Big Thicket Coral Snake Encounter | Wildlife Wednesday

38

It’s been a hot minute since we’ve seen a coral snake so we were delighted to find one crossing the road on our way to the Watson Preserve one evening back in May. The road is lightly traveled, being residential and all, but we still stopped to get out, take photos, and to block other cars from coming and intentionally killing this beauty.

We haven’t seen one in our yard in a few years so I figure we’re due for one soon!

The last one I saw in my yard about 2 years ago, I did not have my phone on me. I was talking to the new neighbors from CA who were complaining about bugs in the house. And they got to see some of the fun critters outside their house. 🙂 Gotta love Texas.

I’ve only seen one, and it was years ago. I lived on the north side of Clear Lake, and it was cruising along the side of the building. At the time, I’d already become enough of a Texas to know “red and yellow kill a fellow,” so I kept my distance.

Hi Misti. I don’t like snakes. Still, I have to admit that this one is beautiful. I’d never heard of this type of snake before.
