This is How We Blog + Useful GTD Tools | A Month of Faves 2016
Day 4: This Is How We Blog #AMonthofFaves2016 – – Essential Computer Programs, Browser Plugins, Websites and / or your blogging routine I started blogging back in 2002 on the old Blogger/Blogspot service, followed by a few jaunts to some hosted sites that my brother had, before going to Geocities and coding the site myself. In 2003 I took an online HTML course that helped me do all of that coding and by inspecting the HTML of other blogs I was able to eventually put something together. For a long time I coded my own RSS feed, too! That was a pain! Finally, in late 2009 I downloaded WordPress to…

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things | A Month of Faves 2016
Andi at Estella’s Revenge is doing a themed blog writing session for December and I thought it might be worthwhile to do a modified version here. I’ll be compiling several of the prompts into one day as time goes on because I do plan on writing about other things throughout the month. Here’s to day 1! The prompt: These Are A Few of My Favorite Things for 2016– eg. to eat, drink, wear, smell, see, do, enjoy, best thing I bought, most used gift received etc, favorite concert, outdoor activity, place visited, most squee worthy moment of the year, biggest change. Friday Five | 8
It’s been a few months since I’ve done one of these! Stranger Things: I can’t say enough about this Netflix series. Marisa brought it to my attention and so I dipped into an episode one evening a few weeks ago and was enthralled. It makes me want to retreat back to the 80s! So much good stuff in this series: I hope Winona Ryder has a comeback career after this. The kids in this series are fantastic actors. Eleven…oh, Eleven!! I can’t wait to see what else they do with this series! The DNC renewed my zest for politics and of course I had to imbibe in some (balanced) political…

Carolina Satyr (Maybe) | (Not Quite) Wordless Wednesday
Over the weekend I was scoping out the figs, seeing if there were any to harvest. As I was doing so I was taking photos of the garden. I noticed several butterflies landing on the fruits and sipping the juices from the broken fruits pecked at by the birds. I managed to get a few photos but it was a butterfly I was not familiar with and would take some book identification and Googling to figure out. At first I thought it was one of the ‘Blues’, Family Lycaenidae, Subfamily Polyommatinae, but quickly realized it was a Family Nymphalidae, Subfamily Satyrinae (Satyrs and Wood-Nymphs). From there it became difficult because…

Life Lately: Late June 2016
+In My Head Not a lot, actually. Well, I take that back. A lot, actually, it just switches often. Let’s see if I can bullet point it… Privatized prisons: This is thanks to OITNB, more commentary below. Brexit: For once it was nice to see my social media feed filled with another country’s/dominion’s politics. I wish I’d known a little bit more about the implications before it happened—that’s my fault for trying to keep my head in the ground with the news these days. Eating/Conversing while a toddler is present: I remember watching my SIL (and this still happens, actually) as she got up and down, up and down, while…
